Many visitors come on holiday to Rwanda to see its famous mountain gorillas, sometimes as an add-on to a safari in Kenya or Tanzania, stay for just three or four days and then leave, which is a shame because there is so much more to see on a Rwanda holiday. This small African country located in the central highlands just south of the equator. With its unique landscapes such as tropical rain and cloud forests and gigantic volcanic massifs. It is still not very developed as a tourist country. But the mountain gorillas in the Volcanoes National Park and the chimpanzees in Nyungwe National Park attract more and more visitors to this beautiful country. In the Parc National des Volcans, a total of 10 gorilla groups which 9 can be visited.

The animals live in the high altitude tropical bamboo forests from the volcanoes. Virunga Mountains was declared a national park. You will also find the tomb of Dian Fossey, whose life led to the film Gorillas in the mist. Also hikers come here very well catered. The Nyungwe National Park is the oldest mountain rainforest of Eastern and Central Africa and is the Albertien rift, a mountain chain that runs ofthe Rwenzori Mountains in Uganda into eastern Congo and has just acquired the status of National Park.
